Another Labour MP who was part of a Whatsapp group where a minister made racist and sexist remarks about party colleagues has been named. Andrew Gwynne, MP for Gorton and Denton, has been sacked and dismissed from the party after he joked in the group chat about an elderly constituent dying.

Labour MP has apologised for comments made in a WhatsApp chat, after Andrew Gwynne was sacked as a minister over messages he sent to the same group. Burnley MP Oliver Ryan said in a statement that comments he made in the group "were completely unacceptable" and he regretted "not speaking out at the time".

Burnley MP Oliver Ryan is being investigated by the Labour Party over “unacceptable and deeply disappointing” comments in a WhatsApp group. Mr Ryan said he was a member of the WhatsApp chat that MP Andrew Gwynne was sacked as a minister over and apologised for some of his own comments “which I deeply regret and would not make today”.
