A Publix shopper’s decision to buy a $5 lottery ticket during a trip to a Florida grocery store ended up winning him a jackpot prize. The winner, identified as 67-year-old Roger Shackelford, won $1 million in the Millionaire Maker game, the Florida Lottery said March 6.

The price of a ticket for the multi-state Mega Millions lottery game will increase from $2 to $5 next month. While a ticket will cost more than twice as much starting April 5, Mega Millions officials say the odds of winning the jackpot will improve. There will also be larger starting jackpots and the size of the jackpots will jump more quickly.
