Since his first administration, Donald Trump has obsessed over replacing Air Force One. However, delays with the contracted Boeing have pushed delivery back by another decade. Now, Trump’s impatience is showing as he’s commissioned an interim plane from another contractor on top of the existing multi-billion contract with Boeing.

President Trump obviously cares a lot about status and looks. This is a man who declared that his new White House flagpoles will only fly “top of the line” American flags and who once managed to body-shame an aircraft carrier.

Boeing has been contracted to construct a pair of Air Force One replacement jets, but the project has fallen far behind schedule.
