Boeing reported a smaller-than-expected quarterly loss on Wednesday, as the U.S. planemaker produced and delivered more jets, after quality problems and a crippling strike shuttered most of its aircraft production late last year.

The US aerospace giant Boeing said on Wednesday that its first quarter net loss to shareholders shrank to $123 million compared to a loss of $343 million the year before. Loss per share was $0.16 compared to a loss of $0.

Boeing reported a narrower first-quarter loss as CEO Kelly Ortberg said the company’s higher backlog has provided some flexibility amid the trade war.
