KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - With a new area code coming to East Tennessee in September, 10-digit dialing will be required beginning next week.

Originally, the Tennessee Public Utility Commission said in February and March, the new 729 area code would roll out and people would need to dial all 10 digits.

Mid-Missouri callers are advised to prepare for 10-digit local dialing as a new area code is established to cover the area.

Soon, several East Tennessee counties will have a new area code, and it's going to add three more digits to many people's local calls.
