American Airlines and JetBlue will not be linking up again in a revived alliance, and now American is suing the New York-based carrier.

Since a court order terminated the NEA, American and JetBlue have been working to wind down remaining aspects. “This is not an unexpected turn,” JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty said in reaction to the suit, on a same-day earnings call. “It’s part of just truing up any monies owed between the parties,” she told investors.

The New York airline has been in talks with several carriers this year about a partnership. JetBlue's president, Marty St. George said on an earnings call on Tuesday that the company expects to make an announcement this quarter. He emphasized that the partner's bigger network would allow customers to earn and burn loyalty points on JetBlue.
