The USDA announced that approximately 22,672 lbs. of Johnsonville sausage was affected by foreign material contamination, specifically the presence of hard plastic.
What we know as of now is that the cheddar bratwurst item in question was produced on February 5, 2025 and bears the establishment number “Est. 1647” on the front of the label, a photo of which has been provided here.
Kansas is one of 10 states affected by a recent Johnsonville sausage recall. If you’ve recently purchased Johnsonville cheddar bratwurst, you should check your fridge as the food item may include hard plastic.
The recall applies to the 19-ounce, sealed firm tray packages containing five pieces of “Johnsonville BRATS CHEDDAR Bratwurst,” according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. A package code B9FOD can also be found on the label. The bratwurst were produced on Feb. 5, 2025.
