Nathan MacKinnon had a hat tick as the Halifax Mooseheads won their first-ever MasterCard Memorial Cup with a 6-4 victory over the Portland Winterhawks in Saskatoon, Sask.

HALIFAX - A newspaper says the Halifax Mooseheads have struck a deal with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar to acquire Nathan MacKinnon, the top pick in the recent Quebec Major Junior Hockey League draft.

After the Mooseheads won the Memorial Cup, the team took the trophy to the building so MacKinnon could show his grandfather, who has since passed. Now, with the Stanley Cup, he wanted to go back.
