Toyota introduced the 2026 Toyota RAV4 GR Sport on May 20. Here's what American car buyers need to know about the sporty new SUV.

The sportiest Toyota RAV4 to this day is the fifth (and outgoing) generation’s Prime XSE. That changes Tuesday evening with the introduction of the sixth generation, however: Toyota has revealed the all-new 2026 RAV4, and with it the new GR-Sport trim, which it says has been “designed with input from the Toyota Gazoo Racing engineering division.”

Following the fifth-gen RAV4 that first appeared in 2019, Toyota's updated its beloved compact SUV for 2026 with revised styling and electrified powertrains. And for the first time ever, the US is getting a GR Sport model.
