MINNEAPOLIS — A few inches of snow fell across Minnesota and Wisconsin after a snow storm Friday night into Saturday. Some areas saw more than five inches of snow, but this winter's total remains well below average through early February.

A winter storm carrying wind and rain from the west fell on Minnesota Saturday, bringing enough snow to make for dicey road conditions. Most of the metro area received snow ranging from 3 to 5 inches,

A winter storm that arrived in Minnesota late Friday and continued through much of Saturday dropped up to 9 inches of snow in the state. As the totals are tallied on Sunday, the leader so far is the 9 inches that fell in Mora, Kanabec County, while 8 inches fell in the Anoka County cities of Andover and Ham Lake.

Eastbound winds are expected to bring more snow through Saturday afternoon, with an additional inch or two possible for western Wisconsin.

Counties including Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, Morrison and Todd are under a Winter Storm Warning until 3:00 p.m. Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches. A Winter Weather Advisory is in place for counties north and south of the warning area. That will also be in effect until 3:00 p.m.

The Euro model then has the Friday-Saturday system dumping 5-10 inches across central Minnesota. As usual, the Twin Cities appears to be on the edge of the latest snowfall projection from the model.

Snow will continue to fall Saturday morning following overnight flurries, giving way to a dry and cold rest of the weekend.
