The Samurai Jack comics continue Jack's quest after the TV series, exploring new adventures, character depth, and even crossovers.

He is to be trained as a samurai warrior and return to fight the evil shapeshifter, Aku, who has wreaked havoc ... a sort of Dirty Harry kung fu loner, "Jack" and assist him in his path homeward.

Hayao Miyazaki doesn't own environmentalism as a theme but Samurai Jack has some undeniable similarities with Princess Mononoke's themes and Ashitaka's arc.
