The need for self-defense and self-protection is nothing new, but the recent spate of gun violence has led to a surge in sales for personal safety kits and devices.

RICHMOND, Va. -- Health Brigade, formally known as the Fan Free Clinic, is planning on distributing free self defense kits to patients who may have experienced gender-based violence.

The idea for the self-defense kits came from SNAP-Co., a Transgender led non-profit in Atlanta, Ga. that distributes similar kits to clients upon request.
