President-elect Donald Trump chose Pete Hegseth, who is a combat veteran ... after he announced Monday he would appoint Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-New York) to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Some of his more contentious selections, like Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., initially saw some friction in the Senate but ultimately were confirmed along mostly party lines.
