With Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass delaying the city’s plans to remove all checkpoints for access to Pacific Palisades along Pacific Coast Highway until Monday, visitors were still stopped at multiple sites heading into the fire-ravaged community on Sunday. A county supervisor expressed frustration, declaring the move a last-minute surprise.

Although the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu reopened on Sunday, the general public is still not allowed into the Palisades area, causing some confusion among drivers. KTLA's Rachel Menitoff speaks with residents in the area on Feb.

Tuesday, 5:30 p.m. PST Los Angeles County public health officials issue closures of several miles of beach near the Palisades Fire, citing “Fire debris runoff and pollutants in the water and on the sand [that] may contain toxic or carcinogenic chemicals.”

LOS ANGELES − After nearly a month of destruction, smoke, and ash, the Eaton and Palisades fires that once ensconced Los Angeles have been fully contained, according to Cal Fire.

The deadly Palisades and Eaton wildfires have finally been 100% contained — more than three weeks after they broke out in Los Angeles and the nearby Altadena area, according to California authorities.
