Officials are asking Panhandle residents to avoid being on the roads. Freezing temperatures mean icy, dangerous conditions.

Florida statutes don't have much to say about snow but they do prohibit anything on the "front windshield, side wings, or side or rear windows" that "materially obstructs, obscures, or impairs the driver’s clear view of the highway or any intersecting highway."

North Florida residents from Pensacola to Jacksonville are bracing for what is expected to be a historic, once-in-a-lifetime winter storm.

While the snow may be over, the cold isn't, and that brings another hazard to Florida motorists not used to driving in snow and ice.
