A dairy worker in Nevada was infected with a new type of bird flu that’s different from the version that has been spreading in U.S. herds since last year, federal health officials said Monday.

There have been an estimated 24 million flu illnesses, 310,000 hospitalizations and 13,000 deaths so far this season — but the Trump administration has made it harder to communicate vital health data.
