Mar 13, 2013 · 3/4G capability was definitely a sore spot with the Surface Pro but alas, there is nothing you can do about it other than tether, purchase a hotspot, or a USB cellular card for the Surface Pro. Likely, the Surface Pro v2, if v1 generates enough revenue, will have this feature. Would not count on a v2 until at least next year.

Nov 4, 2012 · Otherwise, you would need the Surface Pro which will allow non-app software installs. An alternative option would be internet sharing from a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot (such as your Windows Phone). With 4G (or LTE), this works very well.

I installed a 3G USB Modem with my surface pro so I can access the internet where there is no wifi. I was able to use 3G. However, after the installation I am unable to use Wifi, I could not connect to Windows Store, News ... etc. However I am able to access wifi (IE...etc.) via my desktop. When I remove my modem installation, everything works ...

May 22, 2020 · Chris; I cannot really answer your questions but I guess the cost for data will be the same and to me just getting a data sim card linked to my subscription and putting it into the Pro X was piece of cake and works perfectly.

Oct 7, 2015 · The Surface 3 has plenty of internal space for 'extras'. It is a shame but like myself, I have an Android phone and had downloaded a utility called "FoxFi" which creates a mobile hotspot and connect my Surface Pro 3 to it and works fine. So, use a mobile hotspot. You won't get GPS but at least a connection.

Dec 13, 2012 · The only option I have found is the Huawei MiFi which is actually a wireless-3G router so the surface sees it as a WiFi hotspot not a USB dongle. The real constraint is of course the fact that most if not all need some form of application installed which is a non-starter for RT
