Jun 6, 2009 · If I want to strip the metal of oils, etc., I have been using the brake cleaner for some time. If I use a strong solvent, such as Sweets in my bore, I flush it with something like Powder Blast Gun Cleaner or brake cleaner. I always follow up with oil, etc. to protect metal. I don't spray down the entire gun. It will leave it unprotected.

Mar 15, 2019 · You might look for a cleaner which removes lead. .22 ammo sometimes does lead the barrel, normally not so much but if you shoot some of the so called "Crap" brands you might end up with a little lead in the barrel so a cleaner which works on lead would be good. Be careful if you go with any non gun specific spray cleaner like brake cleaner.

Sep 2, 2017 · Bore snake and CLP , pull it through bore a few times , spray some Rem Oil into/onto moving parts, cracks, crevices and spaces. Bore is protected by the CLP. Let any excess Rem Oil drain , shove rag into mag well or shove into any spaces to catch any excess oil. Wipe down exterior and replace grips. Done.

All these subsequent years I spray it with brake cleaner and compressed air, storing it with liberal quantities of Hoppes #9 solvent. Pistol runs like it intends to achieve immortality. YMMV :-)
