CCAT team intervention normally begins at the air evacuation staging location. Once a stabilized patient arrives, the CCAT team prepares them for transport, accompanies them to the aircraft, and continues to monitor the patient and provide intervention care in-flight, as necessary. 5

CCATTs, though developed by the Air Force, use their capabilities to provide care and transportation for patients across the military community and beyond, even treating and transporting civilians from both within and outside the United States.

In austere locations, CCATT teams may augment contract medical evacuation (CME) personnel or Pararescue (PJ) in small aircraft with limited space for medical equipment. It was unknown what deployed PJ and CME carry within their packouts.
