Dec 20, 2019 · To avoid the so called "cold weld" between bullet and case, anybody tried applying a bullet lubricant like liquid alox from Lee, commonly used on cast lead bullets? Roll the bullets over a small amount of alox. Allow to dry and seat them. Remove the excess from the bullet and neck. Will try it soon

May 19, 2013 · I've experienced what can only be explained as "cold welding" of the case necks. They were .223's loaded as a prototype batch of 20 rounds for Hi-Power competition. They got put aside, and I didn't shot them for about 12 years. The cases had only been reloaded once. When I fired the first half-box, I noticed split necks on almost all of the cases.

Aug 1, 2019 · Completely solved the problem. Night and day difference in sizing and seating. No cold welding, rifle accuracy returned. I stuck with the dry neck lube as powder doesn't stick to it. I polish necks, apply wax on body and use Dry neck lube for sizing. It's one more step, but allows me to continue with my preferred cleaning method.

We wear welding goggles. One of us runs the Oxyacetylene torch while the other uses a sledge hammer and the "Extra large Forming Punch " as Brownells calls it.

Mar 31, 2025 · Finally got to the launch, managed to drag the 'yak out but was so cold I could barely walk and couldn't stand up straight. Somehow I managed to put the kayak, all 90lbs of it, on top of the car and tighten the straps enough to say "fuck it". Stripped off all my clothes, jumped in the car, cranked the heat to max and began the drive home.
