It's fairly obvious imo, they are both suddenly very awkward and shy for seemingly no reason when Clementine showed up. They were both alone for a good amount of time and it was obvious Luke was looking forward to talking with Jane. They were both really into each other at that point in time but had 0 time to talk and be normal people for a bit.

It was beautiful today but, that's not the only thing he was thinking about. Yesterday, he and Nick confessed their love for each other, that they liked each other. Luke never thought that he would like Nick, he never thought he would fall for his best friend. He liked Bonnie and Jane but, he never thought Nick.
