This thesis presents the results of two 2-D computational studies of a circulation control Inlet Guide Vane (IGV) that takes advantage of the Coanda effect for flow vectoring. The IGV in this thesis is an uncambered airfoil that alters circulation around itself by means of a Coanda jet that exhausts along the IGV’s trailing edge surface.
Overview of CFD Verification and Validation - NASA
Feb 10, 2021 · CFD is a complex technology involving strongly coupled non-linear partial differential equations which attempt to computationally model theoretical and experimental models in a discrete domain of complex geometric shape.
Effectiveness of two-dimensional CFD simulations for Darrieus …
Mar 15, 2017 · 2D CFD simulations compared to experimental tow-tank data on the RVAT test model. The use of CFD with open-field-like boundaries is suggested. A reliable estimation of the turbine performance and the wake structure is obtained. The transitional turbulence model is recommended for low TSRs and/or small rotors.

Aug 19, 2024 · For a nominally two-dimensional flow case, as in the 2D bi-directional pressure gradient case from the Virginia Tech experiments, 2D CFD results can provide valuable data and insights at a fraction of the cost of simulating the entire flow.
Truncation Error-Based Mesh Adaptation | Kevin T. Crofton …
Truncation Error (TE) acts as the local source for the transport of the discretization error (DE) in the domain. Mesh adaption based upon TE is performed for 1D and 2D Burgers equations. Examination of the analytically derived TE expressions in generalized coordinates provides insight into the effects of mesh quality on the DE.
2D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to generate airfoil tables to drive the Comprehensive Analysis (CA) code CAMRAD II [8,9]. CAMRAD II is a CA tool for rotorcraft [18] and has undergone extensive correlation of performance and loads measurements on rotorcraft, including coaxial rotors [19].
