Aug 27, 2011 · Same size engine, the early cars had 4.0 engine which was upgraded to 4.2 in (I think) 2003. The 4.0 is fitted with a 5 speed auto box, ZF in the 8, Merc in the R, and the 4.2 has a 6 speed ZF box regardless of aspiration.

Jun 28, 2011 · Hi. If it just says XK then it's an XK8 if it's an XKR then it's a much more powerfull car than the XK/XK8. A Supercharger is a bit like a Turbo version of a car.

Nov 21, 2011 · The XKR is certainly a "firm" ride, but my 2004.5 XKR is no more bone-jarring on its 20" Montreals than my 2001 XK8 on 17" Laminas (which surprised me!), and the XKR doesn't tramline like the XK8 either (both on Pirellis). Fuel consumption is about 2 mpg worse on the 4.2 XKR compared to the 4.0 XK8 (16 vs 18mpg, town driving).

Apr 12, 2014 · I can only compare the X100 from personal experience - the overall consumption in my 2001 4.0 XK8 was 18.62 mpg over 13826 miles while the 2004 4.2 XKR returned 16.3 mpg over 18164 miles, both similar driving usage (mostly short journeys). My 2010 XKR has so far averaged 16.88 mpg over 2880 miles, also similar usage.

Sep 15, 2017 · After my 98 XK8 gave out on me 10 years ago, and my 06 XK8 was cut off into an LA freeway wall at 65 MPH 2 years ago, i'm finally on the lookout for another Jag. My issue is this. In my price range i can get a x100 old body style XKR (i dont want to do another xk8 ), or the 07-08 XK's in the new body style (x150).
