Nov 3, 2023 · Xcom 2 is a competent enough game that it can satisfy my xcom cravings for years to come. what cant be satisfied is my curiosity in exactly where the series was going, and thats something ill simply have to live with. at this point i think the best we can hope for with xcom is that it gets yet another reboot in 10 years.

Oct 26, 2022 · Xcom 2 I would say is the better game mechanically and polish-wise. A better tutorial, more forgiving, and while some people may hate the turn timers, it prevents new players from camping and optimizing the fun out of the game. More objectives, better graphically, alot more replayability, etc. Xcom 1 has the better narrative and theming.

XCOM:EW wasn't designed to be modded, so there are very few mods for it. It was created in an era when 16:9 was the widest resolution. I've played thousands of hours, thanks in large part to the Long War mod, but it's all in windowed mode. At this point, it's not reasonable to expect much in the way of updates or new mods.

XCOM 2 WOTC is my favourite. The variety of classes and skills, procedural maps, and randomized strategy layer all give it much more replayability than EU/EW, and WOTC improves a lot of things over the base game, including fewer missions with timers.

Anyone else slightly optimistic on xcom 3 now that civ 7 will launch next year?
