Jun 30, 2017 · I will be testing the antenna and listening to the new system on a BCD436HP until it is fully operational and the current EDACS system is turned off. Then the system will be monitored on a BCD536HP that I use for streaming. I plan on mounting the yagi antenna in the attic of my 1 story home, about 3.4 miles away from the simulcast site.

Jun 22, 2016 · Currently on my outdoor antenna mounted 30 feet in the air, Twin City Ambulance comes in okay but Mercy Flight and the MERS frequencies barely come in at all. I also plan on flipping the Yagi antenna around sometimes so that I can get the sheriff which is located east of my location which operate on a 460 freq.

Jan 14, 2017 · I also use the 824-960, 13dBi, Terrawave Yagi Base Antenna | Scanner Master Being in the middle of several towers I found it impossible to receive P25 simulcast with any reliability. This Yagi works extremely well once it is aimed properly. Using inline attenuation seems to help quite a bit as well.
Aiming a yagi antenna - RadioReference.com Forums
Aug 28, 2023 · For example, there's a UHF repeater I use. It's on top of a 250 foot building. But it's 30 miles away. I can pick it up with a vertical antenna at 30 feet, or a fourteen foot long 21 element Yagi at 25 feet. In this case there's no advantage to changing the elevation of the Yagi. Heck, there's no advantage to even using the Yagi.

Apr 2, 2021 · I put together an 'air band' yagi mostly from stuff I had laying around. Only 'purchased' items was the 1 1/2" wood 'stick' and some U bolts. Elements are some #8 bare Cu I had laying around for years. I put a 40" 'yard stick' out for some sense of scale. Figured I would get these shots before I...

May 23, 2019 · I have built a number of Yagi antennas for the VHF/UHF bands, including air traffic control, FM broadcast and military bands. Welding rods make great elements, especially brass or stainless in the 1/16" to 1/8" range. The stainless rods can be a bear to cut but they make a very stout antenna. They are inexpensive and easy to solder if you ...

Jan 29, 2023 · Unless you have an antenna analyzer to test and tune the antenna, an 800MHz Yagi is not a good candidate for a first time antenna project. If you simply copied instructions found online there are way too many mistakes that can be made because of the high frequency range and very small dimensions involved.

Nov 22, 2015 · A yagi antenna if its at a height high enough to get line of sight to the vhf signal will concentrate the signal in that particular direction. Down side is expense you will need a rotator to turn the antenna along with a strong support due to the larger size antenna. I use an 800 mhz yagi ant here and it works real well for trunking systems ...
