Nov 4, 2010 · I still have my 85 yz 490. I had Al Holley do the motor, He has a mod to help with the pinging. I still run on 50-50 race (110) or av gas and pump premium. It has an aftermarket ohlin shock and I still really enjoy riding it. I am considering racing it in the evolution class. I also have a 08 kawi klx 450, I think I am still faster on the ol yz.

Nov 12, 2008 · It's a vintage bike that people enjoy working on & modifying to their own taste. It's different - not like the other dozens of 500cc's that I see (blow by) every weekend. It's for the same guy that goes to the drag strip in his V-8 Vega and gets off on explosive power. Long desert trails and climbing are exactly what it's for.
