Replacing inner CV boot instead of whole axle?
Oct 17, 2020 · Depends on what you want. If you want it to work for a few years more under normal use, replace whole cv assembly. Its easier than dealing with the mess of replacing boot(s). However if you ask axle experts, they know that OEM shafts are superior. The custom axle shop i worked with will take OEM shafts and remake them.

Nov 25, 2024 · I bought a garden hose type clamp from Amazon. The regular garden hose clamp doesn't fit in the groove of the boot. Slide off the boot a bit to get to just a bit of the groove at the axle. Put a dab of permatex on it and slide the boot back, put the clamp and tighten it really good. CV Axle boot kit for the right or passenger side.
Jan 21, 2025 · I just got an OEM left/driver CV Axle boot kit from Toyota to use on the passenger side Axle. Aug 29, 2018 · Front axle boot replacement Thanks for the fast reply. I'm not sure how replacing the boot can be the same cost as replacing the entire axle. The boot kit with inner and outer boots was $51 from Toyota. The left front axle is $396. It takes the same amount of time to remove and reinstall the axle. The only extra time is to R&R the boots.
